FEBRUARY FISHING REPORT FOR THE GIPPSLAND LAKES AND RIVERS.
 
LAKES ENTRANCE
 
Footbridge for whiting, snapper and trevally, Bullock Island is great in the morning for bream, mullet, tailor and salmon, biting on sandworm, or local prawn. even metal lures will produce decent results. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor.  Anglers are catching a nice mixed bag offshore.
Prawns are in the lake, particularly around Kalimna Jetty.
 
LAKE TYERS
 
Flathead are active along the shallow areas of the system taking soft plastics. For bream try sandworm or neutral coloured hard body lures. Tailor are also in abundance chasing lures. Prawns are also running.
 
MITCHELL RIVER
 
Decent sized flathead are being caught around the Old Butter Factory and further down around the Silt Jetties with local prawn. Bream and tailor are active near the river mouth.
TAMBO RIVER - There have been reports of the odd mulloway hanging out in the river and in the lake system. The river mouth is also worth a shot.
 
NICHOLSON 
 
Best spots for bream are between the Two Bridges, The Swimming Hole and around the river mouth, taking local prawn and soft plastics.
 
METUNG
 
For whiting and flathead try along the town jetties, structures and Boardwalk using local prawn. The odd tailor can be found around the back beaches chasing metal lures.
 
PAYNESVILLE/LOCH SPORT
 
Gummy shark are being landed over on the beach along with snapper, salmon, and flathead. Out  on the lakes, mullet, garfish and tailor are around, while Black bream are chasing prawn chunks, hard-body and soft-plastic lures. Focus on sandy stretches in the shallows along the lake
front, with white soft plastics proving especially effective. Plenty of bait fish and mussels in the lake as well.
 
MARLO 
 
Bream and luderick are in the estuary taking mussels, pippis or local prawn. Gummies and Bronze Whalers can be found off the beach and offshore.
Australian salmon, Yellow Tail kingfish and calamari are giving anglers some fun offshore.
 
BEMM RIVER
 
Prawns and flathead are in the system. Australian Salmon are being landed from the beach.
 
MALLACOOTA 
 
The bottom lake may still be a bit discoloured with all the unsettling conditions in the area. Bream can be found up around Dahl Bank. Flathead are in the lake also the odd  flounder can be found at the top lake.
