Shellite is a flammable hydrocarbon solvent used primarily as lighter fuel. (Also known as Recosol R55 or (US) white gas.)

Typical Uses:

  • Lighter fuel.
  • Metal cleaning.
  • Fuel for Shellite stoves, torches and lanterns.

Features:

  • Colourless liquid with a paraffinic, sweet odour.
  • A weak solvent that is unlikely to affect the surface of most materials.
  • Performs well in situations requiring a solvent that evaporates quickly with no residue.
  • Solvency – high solvency of greases and oils means it can be used to clean surfaces prior to painting.
  • Clean burning.

Application:

As a Fuel
Use undiluted as a clean burning fuel for Shellite stoves, torches and lanterns. Fill Shellite stove ONLY when flame is extinguished and burner has cooled down. Do NOT use in Kerosene or Methylated Spirits burners.

As a Cleaning Fluid
Use direct from bottle as a cleaning fluid. Brush on liberally, wipe clean and let dry.
